ISO/IEC 15693 is the vicinity contactless standard at 13.56 MHz, designed for longer read ranges of up to about a metre rather than the centimetre-scale tap of ISO 14443. The greater range suits library books, asset tags, and access cards where a card may be read inside a wallet or at a gate. It trades data rate and security features for that extended operating distance.
